new orleans wiped out
Hurricane Katrina wiped out New Orleans. I’ve been reading about it all morning, and since I haven’t been watching any television, I’m basically getting all of this as fresh information. I can’t believe the level of destruction and chaos. the superdome turned into a refuge. dead bodies floating in the water. thousands dead. probably the worst flooding in the country since San Fransisco in 1906. waters reached heights of 20 feet above the street.
New Orleans rooftops after Hurricane Katrina
I just visited New Orleans at the end of last year, and it’s still very fresh in my mind as a vibrant, cultured, and extremely unique city. when I was there I was so glad and proud that we had a city like this in the United States. Now it’s pretty much gone and will take years to rebuild. certain things will surely be irreplaceable, especially the unique architecture and historic buildings—and the thousands of lives lost. will Cafe Du Monde reopen?
I guess this is just the natural course of things, but it’s still sad as hell. the universe will continue to exist, our world will keep turning, and in time all will heal.

This decade in the history of America is proving to be one of the most devastating in its short history. Those of us who are fortunate enough to survive the country’s challenges should always remember the blessings we have, with the realization that life can be tough but it could also be alot worse.

Well said man. I think all of us feel for those folks down in the areas that got hit by this natural disaster. It’s unbelievable and humbling to say the least.
